From the 15th June the grace period for new rules concerning the conservation of fuel and power take effect.
Updated insulation requirements for new homes are now going to be assessed under a new Standard Assessment Procedure known as SAP 10.
Existing homes will have to renew windows and doors where the works are enough to form a significant upgrade.
New extensions will all be affected because of the introduction of new glazing measures, improvements for lighting design and new flow temperature systems in heating requirements. The maximum flow temperature is now 55 degrees C instead of the previous 75 degrees.
There is also an uplift to Building Regulations Part F where new ventilation measures are being introduced.
Windows must be trickle vented unless alternatives, for example air bricks, can be put in place. Mechanical Ventilation systems will have a mandated checklist as a provision to help installation so as to make things more straightforward.
